The short version: We collect only what we need to operate Legatus AI. We do not sell your data. Client estate data is never stored on our servers between sessions. You are always in control.
1. Who we are
Legatus AI ("Legatus," "we," "us," or "our") is a software service that provides AI-powered administrative tools for probate law practices. Our registered contact address is hello@legatus.legal.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: When you register or request access, we collect your name, firm name, email address, phone number, bar number, and state of practice.
- Contact form submissions: Information submitted through our website contact form, including your name, firm, email, phone, state, and case volume.
- Integration credentials: API keys and credentials you provide for third-party services (Plaid, Clio, Estateably, Gmail, Outlook, etc.). These are transmitted securely and are never stored on our servers.
Case and client data
When you use Legatus AI to process estate files, you may input data about deceased individuals, their assets, creditors, and beneficiaries. This data is processed in real time to generate AI outputs and is not stored on Legatus AI servers between sessions. It is transmitted to your chosen AI provider (Google, Anthropic, or your own provider) under your account credentials.
Usage and technical data
- Browser type, IP address, and device information
- Pages visited and features used
- Error logs and performance data
3. How we use your information
- To provide and improve the Legatus AI service
- To respond to your inquiries and support requests
- To send service-related communications (not marketing, unless you opt in)
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- To comply with legal obligations
4. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- AI providers: Case data you submit is processed by your designated AI provider (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or your own). This transmission is governed by your agreement with that provider.
- Service providers: We use Formspree for form submissions and Render for hosting. These providers process data only as needed to operate our service.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to you.
5. Data security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Client estate data is not persisted on our servers. API keys and credentials are transmitted securely and are never logged or stored.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after termination. Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months. Case data processed through our AI pillars is not retained on our servers.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you

The short version: Legatus AI is a tool to assist attorneys — not a replacement for legal judgment. Every AI output requires attorney review before use. You remain responsible for all legal advice and decisions.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Legatus AI ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including attorneys, paralegals, and firm administrators.
2. Description of service
Legatus AI provides AI-powered administrative tools for probate law practices, including asset discovery, creditor management, beneficiary communications, and estate preservation workflows. The Service is designed to assist legal professionals — it does not provide legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship between Legatus AI and any party.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and a licensed legal professional or authorized representative of a law firm to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
4. Attorney responsibility
Important: All AI-generated outputs — including asset reports, creditor letters, beneficiary updates, and cancellation notices — are drafts only. The supervising attorney is solely responsible for reviewing, approving, and taking responsibility for any output before it is used, sent, or relied upon. Legatus AI does not practice law.
5. Account registration
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at hello@legatus.legal
- One account per firm unless you have purchased multiple seats
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of professional conduct rules
- Input data you are not authorized to process
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or replicate the Service
- Use the Service to process data unrelated to legitimate probate administration
- Share your account credentials with unauthorized individuals
- Attempt to circumvent any security measures
7. Subscription and payment
- Subscriptions are billed monthly per seat
- Current pricing: Solo ($149/seat/month), Firm ($229/seat/month), Enterprise (custom)
- Prices may change with 30 days written notice to registered users
- No refunds for partial months, except as required by law
- Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of access
8. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting hello@legatus.legal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No long-term contracts are required.
9. Intellectual property
The Legatus AI platform, including its software, design, and content, is owned by Legatus AI and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of all data you input into the Service. You grant Legatus AI a limited license to process that data solely to provide the Service.
10. Confidentiality
You acknowledge that estate data you input may constitute confidential client information subject to attorney-client privilege and professional conduct rules. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with all applicable professional obligations, including rules regarding client confidentiality and data security.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. LEGATUS AI DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. AI-GENERATED CONTENT MAY CONTAIN ERRORS AND MUST BE REVIEWED BY A QUALIFIED ATTORNEY BEFORE USE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LEGATUS AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR GOODWILL ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legatus AI and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or violation of any third-party rights.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
